Sunday lunch with the Mazzoni family-Oct. 9

More food for you! On Sunday we were invited to friends of ours, the Mazzoni. This is the family that Anna lived with last winter when she stayed on to finish her fall semester.

Pascale Mazzoni's parents live outside of Grenoble up in the mountains where they tend a very large garden. We started our meal with a mix of vegetables from their garden--cooked beets, carrots, red cabbage and radishes (I think the radishes though were from Philippe's parents' garden). This was like a salad with a vinaigrette served on the side.

The second course was typical of the Savoie region--just north of Grenoble--diots (sausages) and crozets (a square pasta cooked in cream and cheese). Hearty mountain food!

I brought a dessert, chocolate cake with a caramel sauce. Sorry, no picture because it did not turn out.

When lunch was finished we walked to the St. Laurent museum, a church that goes back to the Roman Christian Church. Pictured on the right is the Mazzoni family and their 4 girls. On the left, Anna is pulling Isabelle up the hill, with Otto following closely behind.

Luc is having fun with the two youngest Mazzoni girls, Anne and Emmanuelle.
